Coordinated Program in Dietetics

Drug Screen and Criminal Background Check

Many supervised practice sites require that the student pass a mandatory drug screen, criminal background check for Missouri, criminal background check for each state lived or worked in the last ten years (or since age 18 if the student is younger than 28 years) and additional qualification checks prior to placement in that facility.

Because students must complete supervised practice to attain the degree and be eligible for the National Registration Examination for Dietitians, progress through the CP is contingent upon passing these tests.

The additional cost for these requirements for full-time University of Missouri-Columbia students is $60. Rates may be higher for part-time students. Depending on supervised practice setting requirements, these tests may be performed multiple times throughout the CP.

The student is responsible for all costs incurred with the drug screen, criminal background checks and other qualification checks.
