Nutrition and Fitness Program
The Nutrition and Fitness emphasis prepares students for careers in the health promotion and fitness fields to work as counselors, educators and trainers for programs aimed at children, adults and seniors.
The curriculum provides a foundation in nutrition and exercise sciences with electives to allow focus in one or more of these areas. Students will also be prepared for graduate study in Exercise Physiology or related fields.
You’ll apply to come to Mizzou through undergraduate admissions.
Students will start out as pre-nutrition and fitness students until they meet all the requirements to apply to be admitted into the professional program and take advanced classes.
Pre-Nutrition and fitness students should submit a request to advance to the professional program after completing all the requirements, which depend on the semester you entered the nutrition and fitness program.
You must already be within the nutrition and fitness program to advance into the professional program. If you are currently NOT a Pre-Nutrition and Fitness student, please e-mail HESStudentServices@missouri.edu to set up an appointment in 106 Gwynn Hall to officially transfer into HES.
The requirements are based on when you were admitted as a "Pre-Nutrition and Fitness" student. Please note that the requirements change and you must follow the rules that apply to the semester you entered the nutrition and fitness degree program. You can check which "catalog year" (or which set of requirements applies to you) by running your degree audit.
- Go to the University Registrar website for degree audits.
- Follow the instructions for DARSWeb for students. This will provide you an accurate degree audit for your program and the "catalog year" you entered.
- Once you have your audit, review section 11 for Nutrition and Fitness Requirements.
