Nutrition & Fitness Internship Program
Students majoring in Nutrition & Fitness in the Department of Nutritional
Sciences are encouraged to participate in an internship experience. Both
local (mid-Missouri) and distant internship opportunities are available.
Many of the distant internships carry a living expenses stipend. A list of
local internships is attached. A complete listing of internships can be
found in 217 Gwynn Hall. All internships must be approved by Dr. Thomas
prior to enrollment. You may contact Dr. Thomas at 882-0062, 113 McKee Gym.
Internship packets also are available in 117 Gwynn Hall.
Qualifications The following is a list of qualifications
that you must meet in order to participate in the nutrition and fitness
internship program.
All nutrition and exercise science required courses
completed. (Minor exceptions will be considered.)
GPA of 2.2 overall and 2.5 in nutrition and fitness
courses.
Recommendation of faculty advisor. Advisor should
confirm that you meet the requirements for the internship. (Advisor can
phone, email, or write Dr. Thomas)
Transcript submitted to Dr. Thomas.
Permission to enroll in the internship.
Time commitment of at least 4 hours credit (12 hours
per week, 180 hours total) for a full semester. (24 hours per week in the
summer.)
Enroll in NS 4940 for 4-12 hours.
